We are pleased to offer our 7 and Up Club for our youngest patients. Beginning a relationship with an orthodontist at the age of seven is important so that developmental issues or other problems can be detected early and treatment can begin when it will have the most impact.
Dr. Pavlo is specially trained to spot subtle problems in jaw growth and development. These issues can be detected as the baby teeth begin to fall out and the permanent teeth begin to emerge.
Our 7 and Up Club members have the advantage of early detection. For patients who wait to see an orthodontist after the permanent teeth have erupted or jaw growth has stopped, correcting any issues that have appeared may be more difficult. For this reason, the American Association of Orthodontics recommends children visit an orthodontist no later than the age of 7.
There are many advantages to beginning a relationship with Dr. Pavlo at this time. For some children, he may detect an issue with their development that warrants early interceptive treatment. For these children, he will work to help guide the growth of their jaw, expand their palate, or correct other issues in order to allow adequate space for the permanent teeth to erupt.
Some patients may not need any early treatment, and instead, Dr. Pavlo will recommend monitoring. The advantage to this monitoring is that Dr. Pavlo will see the child on a regular basis, and can then begin any treatment needed at the exact time that it will have the most impact.
You may think your child’s smile looks straight, or that you should wait until all of the baby teeth have fallen out and been replaced with permanent teeth before visiting an orthodontist. However, developing problems can be subtle before they create a much more serious issue. Joining our 7 and Up Club allows us to begin treatment at the appropriate time for your child.
Early treatment can prevent more serious issues from developing later, and it can also make future treatment shorter and less complicated. For some patients, Dr. Pavlo can achieve results at an earlier age than he would not be able to achieve once the child’s jaw and face have stopped growing.
Becoming a member of our 7 and Up Club allows Dr. Pavlo to:
- Guide the growth of your child’s jaw
- Limit any risk of trauma to protruded front teeth
- Correct harmful habits that can lead to the need for orthodontic treatment, such as tongue thrusting and extended thumb sucking
- Guide permanent teeth to the most favorable position
- Improve facial symmetry and the way the lips meet
- Prepare your child up for a lifetime of good oral health
Our 7 and Up Club provides an opportunity for our patients to get on the right track for a healthy, beautiful smile. At the same time, this club can allow for the most beneficial and effective treatment.
